This month, we introduce our new website, DiscoverClassical.org. You may have some questions about our new site and on-air identification, but we hope you like some of the enhancements and visit again and again!
No! The station is licensed to the Dayton Public Radio Board of Trustees, and that will never change. We are not affiliated with any other public radio/TV station or educational institution. We are as "public" as public radio can be! As always, listener-support is vital to the health of our classical music service.
Classical music can often seem daunting. For someone new to classical music, Discover Classical will provide an entertaining and informative way to "dip your toe" into the music, its composers, its styles. On the other hand, for someone who is well-acquainted with the music, we hope to provide content that enlightens, and enhances your love of the music. We want Discover Classical to be not only a final destination, but a starting point for the discovery of classical music.
No! In the Miami and Whitewater Valleys, you will still be able to hear us at 88.1FM and 89.9FM.
Our mobile/online delivery has become even more streamlined, with the introduction of our universal player. You will now be able to listen 24 hours a day on virtually any PC or mobile device in 128K stereo!
No! We are still YOUR 24-hour, non-commercial classical music station in Dayton, one of about two dozen such stations in the 100 biggest markets in America. The people behind the mic are the same, the music is the same. Really, the only change is we hope more and more people, from Dayton and beyond, will join our classical music family through our new site.
Absolutely not! Our roots in The Gem City are firm. Our daytime hosts are local (and live!). While we'll be offering more online content than ever before, we are still committed to the region's music and fine arts community, and will continue our broadcasts of interviews and concerts from groups like the Dayton Philharmonic, Bach Society of Dayton, and the Richmond Symphony.
We'll be adding more interactive content and features in the upcoming months, and invite your feedback at firstname.lastname@example.org. We look forward to sharing in this discovery with you!
