The Maestro Circle was established by supporters of Discover Classical to help provide for the long-range financial stability of the organization through legacy and planned gifts. The Maestro Circle represents the enlightened concern of individuals who have felt and seen the impact of Discover Classical in their own lives and wish to see that impact ripple beyond their own time. Leaving a legacy gift to Discover Classical symbolizes your desire to see our mission, to provide classical music and fine arts programming to Miami Valley listeners, continue for years to come!
When you include Discover Classical in your long-range financial plans you may find that the tax advantages can increase the value of your gift, enabling you to do more than you ever dreamed possible. A planned charitable gift can be made in a variety of ways:
Making a Bequest to Discover Classical in Your Will
A bequest to Discover Classical by Will permits you to retain all your assets during your
lifetime and/or the life of your spouse. Designations may be for a percentage of your estate
or for a specified amount. There are several different types of bequests and any of them will
benefit Discover Classical.

about the types of bequests in this article.
Charitable Trusts
A Charitable Trust can provide income to you and your spouse as long as either of you live.
Thereafter, the trust principal will go to the Discover Classical Endowment Fund. You may
name other charities as principal recipients as well.
Gift Annuities
When you transfer cash or securities of more than $10,000 to The Dayton Foundation
(or another foundation of your choosing), the annuity will guarantee you a fixed stream
of income for life. The income will flow to you (and to your spouse if you desire) after
which the remaining principal of the annuity becomes a gift to Discover Classical. This
provides a current income tax savings and possible capital gains savings.
Gift of Property
A gift of property such as a vehicle or real estate can benefit Discover Classical
and relieve your heirs of having to sell that property. Discover Classical partners
with CARS
(Charitable Adult Rides and Services) to turn your donated car, truck, or even
boats into a gift to the station. In the case of real estate, Discover Classical
will work with a realtor of your choosing to sell your property with the proceeds
going to the station.
Charitable Lead Trust and/or Charitable Remainder Trust
Both a Charitable Lead Trust (CLT) or a Charitable Remainder Trust (CRT) can benefit
Discover Classical and can have tax benefits for you now and for your heirs in the future.
The primary difference between the two is a difference of who receives the income stream
during the life of the trust and who receives the assets when the trust ends.
This article explains the difference. Your estate planning attorney and/or tax advisor can
help you determine what is best for your family and Discover Classical.
Life Insurance
When the added protection of an insurance policy is no longer needed, transferring the
policy's ownership to Discover Classical can result in tax benefits for you, and a generous
gift for Discover Classical. Discover Classical can also be included as a beneficiary,
contingency beneficiary or owner of a new or existing policy.
Your tax advisors can help you determine which of these techniques is best suited for your particular circumstances and charitable objectives. You will find that each of these methods of supporting Discover Classical has a varied estate or income tax benefit that can result in a charitable gift that is considerably larger than its after-tax cost to you.
